The shipping company Stena Line, like many other ferry companies, has been affected by the consequences of the pandemic caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Currently, the ferries of the Swedish shipping company operate to a large extent only in freight traffic on to various routes. As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread, we are noticing the increased uncertainty this is causing. The situation has our full attention. The safety of our guests and staff is always a top priority and we take numerous precautions to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for all.

Given the current situation, we will do everything we can to assist you with your upcoming travel plans. Please understand that we also cannot predict the development of travel restrictions and therefore follow the legal guidelines.

Entry requirements for Stena Line destination countries

Travel restrictions Ireland

Currently, every traveler must enter to 14-day period of self-isolation to entering Ireland. Before entering the country, you must also fill in the appropriate form with your address. Further information on the current entry requirements for Ireland can be found at the Foreign Office.

Travel restrictions Great Britain, Scotland, Wales

Travel restrictions France

Currently in France the entry of tourists is not possible. The borders are open only for commuters and transit travelers. On May 11, the first easing measures have been taken throughout the country. This includes the fact that the curfew has been lifted and restaurants and tourist attractions have reopened. The ferry connections from France to Great Britain are also not yet usable again.

Travel restrictions Denmark

Denmark has also closed its borders to tourists so far. There will also be no change until May 31. It is possible that the entry of tourists will be possible again in June. Health checks take place within the country and at the borders. Currently there are no ferry connections to the Baltic Sea islands or to Sweden. Ferry traffic is completely suspended.

Travel restrictions Poland

Poland has also closed its borders. Until June 12, the entry of tourists is not possible. Only citizens or commuters are allowed to cross the border. After entry, an independent 14-day quarantine must be taken. In addition, there are currently no ferry trips to islands or neighboring countries.

Travel restrictions Netherlands

Entry into the Netherlands is currently possible as there are no border controls. Also the overnight stay of tourists is possible provided that accommodations are already open. However, a quarantine period of 14 days must be observed upon entry. Ferry crossings are also possible in some cases. For example, crossings to Great Britain can be booked via the providers. However, tourists may not be allowed to enter the destination country.

Travel restrictions Latvia

Latvia is currently in a state of national emergency. This is expected to be maintained until June 9. During this period, travel by tourists is completely suspended. Air traffic between Germany has now resumed. There are also ferry connections to the neighboring country Estonia again.

Travel restrictions Norway

In Norway, travel restrictions have also been relaxed. There is a ferry connection to Germany via Sweden. To enter Norway to tourists must undergo a 10-day quarantine. However, Norway so far only allows entry for citizens living abroad, for example.

Travel restrictions Germany

The travel restrictions for Germany are currently valid until May 15, 2020. Until then, travelers are not allowed to to Germany without a valid reason. You can find more information on to website of the German Foreign Office.

Travel restrictions Sweden

There are currently no entry restrictions for passengers to Sweden. All routes to and to Sweden are operated normally.
