The Greek city of Heraklion is the capital of the island of Crete and a place steeped in history. By car on Crete
If you are traveling by car on Crete, use the island’s main roads to get to Heraklion. From western Crete, take the E75 national road in an easterly direction. From the eastern and southern parts of the island, follow the signs to Heraklion. Once in the city, head towards the harbor, which is well signposted.
Bus connections
There is a well-developed bus network in Heraklion. There are numerous bus routes that take you directly to the ferry port from various parts of the city and the island. The bus stops are well signposted and you can find the timetables at the bus stops or online.
Arrival by plane
Heraklion International Airport is located near the city center. From the airport you can take a cab or a bus to the city center and from there to the ferry port. The bus ride from the airport to the port takes about 20 minutes.
