The Provençal port city of Toulon is picturesquely surrounded by mountains on one of the most beautiful bays of the Mediterranean. A cable car takes visitors up to the 584 metre high Mont Faron, from where there is a fantastic view over the whole of Toulon. In the harbour, besides fishing boats and Fähre, there are also submarines and warships, as Toulon is an important naval base. The Place de la Liberté with its white buildings, palm trees and fountains invites you to linger. The old town enchants its guests with narrow alleys and colourful facades. On hot summer days, more than 200 fountains and numerous shady places refresh in Toulon. Sun worshippers, on the other hand, can enjoy a relaxing day of swimming on one of the beautiful beaches.
