In the Aukstaitija National Park visitors experience almost untouched primeval forest. The tree population of oaks and pines here is 200 years old. Large heath areas, meadows and lakes provide a protected habitat for wolves, lynx and elk.

As Lithuania is located within the Schengen area, German citizens only need an identity card or passport that is valid for the entire duration of the journey when entering the country. A visa is not necessary for your trip to Lithuania.

By car, the best route is via Poland to Lithuania. The European Road 67 leads from Prague to all Baltic States. Those arriving by train or bus should plan for long travel times and transfers. Vilnius can be reached quickly and easily by plane from Germany.
