Holiday in Wales
Wales offers visitors a diverse mix of rugged landscapes, charming towns and historic buildings. Endless sandy beaches invite to extensive walks, more than 100 castles to be discovered.
TOP excursion destinations in Wales
Wales’ capital Cardiff delights its guests with a varied face. For example, a visit to Cardiff Castle will allow you to see both a Norman castle and a Victorian mansion. Also worth seeing is the modern harbour district of Cardiff Bay with its famous opera house.
The history of the town of Aberystwyth dates back to 1277. Worth seeing are the ruins of the castle and the three-kilometre-long beach promenade. With its Victorian style houses, it offers the perfect place for a stroll.
The small coastal town of Tenby enchants with its colourful houses, narrow streets and historic town walls. Tenby offers beautiful beaches and a lively harbour. The Tudor Merchants House invites you to take a trip back in time, as everything here looks exactly as it did in the 15th century.
If you stand in front of Conwy Castle, you are about to visit one of the largest and most beautiful medieval castles in the country. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. It is surrounded by a completely preserved circular wall with eight defence towers, an absolutely unforgettable sight. The same goes for Caernarfon Castle.
One of the most interesting places in Wales is without doubt the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The imposing ship’s bridge spans the picturesque valley of the River Dee on 19 piers and allows houseboats to cross at a height of 40 metres.
Wales attractions also include the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Over a length of 300 kilometres it follows the coast. Constant companions: steep cliffs, beautiful beaches, picturesque coastal towns, green meadows and the sea.
Wales’ spectacular nature reveals all its beauty in Snowdonia National Park. Here, at an altitude of 1,085 metres, is Mount Snowdon. The highest mountain of Wales can be climbed on several ways, but it is much more comfortable with the rack railway.
Entry requirements
German citizens need an identity card or a (children’s) passport to enter Wales. All travel documents must be valid until the end of the trip.
