The Story Bridge in Brisbane is considered an architectural masterpiece. It spans the Brisbane River over a length of 1,072 metres. Construction began in 1935, and today the bridge has six lanes and sidewalks and bike lanes. Especially in the dark, the illuminated bridge is a real eye-catcher.

Get in the convertible and enjoy the unique coastal scenery of the Great Ocean Road. 250 kilometres reveal magnificent views of picturesque bays and imposing cliffs. Among them the Twelve Apostles – limestone rocks up to 60 meters high in the sea.

The most famous landmark in Australia is Ayers Rock. For 550 million years, the 350-metre-high sandstone monolith has lain majestically in the Australian outback. The Aborigines gave their sacred mountain the name Uluru – “shade-giving mountain”. Already in 1987, Ayers Rock was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It stretches for 2,300 kilometres along the Australian coast. Under water it reveals to divers and snorkelers all its beauty worth protecting. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is now under the strictest protection.

Kangoroo Island is not called “Australia’s Galapagos” for nothing. Visitors experience a unique natural paradise with a fascinating wealth of animals. Island highlights include the penguins of Kingscote, the sea lions at Seal Bay and the fascinating Remarkable Rocks.

One of the highlights in the north is undoubtedly the Kakadu National Park. Travellers should take their time, because besides a diverse animal and plant world, the aborigines of Australia left colourful rock paintings here more than 20,000 years ago. The Jim Jim waterfalls also make for special holiday moments.

Visitors succumb to the fascination of the oldest rainforest in the world in the Daintree National Park. Through tropical vegetation and ancient ferns, trails and rivers lead to saltwater crocodiles and Cap Tribulation. A very special place, tropical rainforest and Great Barrier Reef meet here in breathtaking beauty.

Entry to Australia is only possible for German citizens with a passport valid for the entire duration of the stay. In addition, travelers need a valid visa, which must be issued before the start of the trip.


Alternative travel options

If you want to travel from Germany to Australia by cargo ship, you need about a month’s time and up to 5,000 euros per person. It is much faster and cheaper to travel by plane to the big metropolises Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Perth.
