Holiday in Indonesia
With over 17,000 islands, Indonesia is one of the largest and most diverse countries in Asia. Borneo, Java, Sulawesi and Sumatra are considered the main islands, while Bali, Gili and Lombok are popular island paradises with tourists. The cultural heritage bears witness to ancient kingdoms and sultanates. Nature promises fascinating underwater worlds and orangutans in their natural habitat.
TOP excursion destinations in Indonesia
Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, with its 30 million inhabitants, is considered the largest city in Southeast Asia. Here Asian culture meets colonial architecture, the largest mosque in to region and the Geraja Cathedral with its two 60-metre high towers. Visitors can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view from the viewing platform of the National Monument at a height of 137 metres.
The city of Yogyakarta is known for its grandiose architecture. These include in particular the mighty Borobudur Temple, the Hindu Prambanan Temple, the Sultan’s Palace and the Tamansari Water Castle. The latter once served the Sultan as a royal bathing place. A sight created by nature is the cave Goa Jomblang, with the climbing harness you go down into the depth.
The island of Bali offers fantastic beaches and wonderful diving and surfing areas. In addition, there are temples such as the Ulun Danu Bratan or the picturesquely situated Tanah Lot Temple, which can be reached on foot at low tide. High up leads an ascent of the active Gunung Batur. Unforgettable holiday moments are promised by royal tombs, rice terraces, the sacred monkey forest or a thermal bath in the middle of the rainforest.
The Gili islands are only a few meters above sea level and offer with small bays and beautiful beaches wonderful bathing days. No car noise disturbs the peace here. It is rather to discover the islands with horse carriages and to enjoy the idyll in the small restaurants and cafés.
The Komodo dragon lives to island named to it. The mighty reptile can grow up to three meters long and weigh 30 kilograms. A national park protects the diverse flora and fauna of Komodo Island, which has been part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage since 1991.
In the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo, the Tanjung Puting Wildlife Reserve National Park offers the opportunity to observe orangutans in their natural habitat.
