Holiday in New Zealand

The beauty of New Zealand penetrates deep into the hearts of nature-loving people. The landscape is characterized by volcanoes, geysers, glaciers, fjords and rainforests. In New Zealand, the beaches are secluded and the coastlines spectacular. With a little luck you can spot kiwis, mountain parrots, whales and penguins. The cities invite with their manageable size to stroll and discover, absolutely fascinating: the culture of the Maori, New Zealand’s artful natives.

TOP excursion destinations in New Zealand

New Zealand’s capital Wellington is small but mighty. It is located in the south of the North Island and is surrounded by sea and rainforest. Worth seeing are the Waterfront, the government quarter, the National Museum and the Botanical Gardens. The latter is accessible by cable car and offers a beautiful view over the city.

If you would like to visit Bilbo Baggins house, you should go to Matamata. A dream for true Lord of the Rings fans. The guided tour of the film set takes you through 44 hobbit caves, “To the Green Dragon”, to the mill, to the two-arched bridge and to the festival tree.

New Zealand’s largest national park is the Fiorland National Park with 12,500 square kilometres (!). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its mountains, fjords and lakes. Milford Sound is one of the highlights. The mighty fjord is 15 kilometres long, and a trip there is often accompanied by seals and dolphins.

New Zealand’s largest lake is Lake Taupo, created by a volcanic eruption. The other shore is often difficult to see, covering an impressive 622 square kilometres.

In New Zealand, there is a glacier that was actually named to Austrian Emperor Franz Josef. Absolutely fascinating is the fact that its foothills border directly on a rainforest. The ten-kilometre-long Franz Josef Glacier can be explored on a guided hike.

An unforgettable natural experience awaits visitors to the Waitomo Caves. A boat takes you through the cave system, while countless glow worms conjure up a blue shimmering starry sky on the ceiling.

Hot springs, geysers and lakes full of mud show that the volcanoes of New Zealand are still active. Wellness pure offers a bath in the hot springs of Rotorua. On the other hand, a bath at the Hot Water Beach is incomparable. At low tide, locals and guests flock to the beach armed with shovels, dig a hole and enjoy a hot bath. What a fascinating country!
