The Baltrum Line shipping company
The German shipping company Baltrumlinie GmbH was founded in 1928 by the three Baltrumers Ulrich Albers, Ulrich Meyer and Johann Küper. Its Fähreoperate between the mainland and the island of Baltrum, carrying around 140,000 passengers and 8,000 tonnes of freight every year. The shipping company is based in Baltrum.
Baltrum in every season
With the Baltrum I and III, a total of two passenger ships are in operation for the shipping company. They offer space for around 1,000 and 375 passengers respectively. Snacks and drinks are provided during the crossing. As a supply ship, the Baltrum II only has room for 25 passengers. As part of a special timetable, the jet boat Baltrum IV offers fast crossings to the island. With a draught of only 58 centimetres, it can also be used as a water taxi. For people with reduced mobility, access to the Fähreon regular services is easily possible via barrier-free access bridges. Dogs are welcome on board – with the appropriate ticket.
Major Baltrum Line Ferry Routes
The ships of the shipping company connect the coastal bathing resort of Neßmersiel with the island of Baltrum on only one route. Depending on the season, the 30-minute crossing is offered one to three times daily. The departure times vary depending on the tide. In the months from April to October, additional trips to the islands of Norderney, Langeoog and Spiekeroog are on the programme.
