In the meantime, the Flensburg-based Förde Reederei Seetouristikcan look back to 150 years of company history. Once founded as a regional passenger ship operator, the company has grown to become an internationally active shipping line that transports more than seven million people a year to 58 ships worldwide. 17 subsidiaries represent FRS in Europe, North Africa, North America and the Middle East. Among them the FRS Baltic the FRS Sylt Ferry, Reederei Hiddensee GmbH, FRS Helgoline GmbH, Clipper Vacation (USA) and FRS Muscat (Oman).

Family tradition combined with the latest technology

The shipping company offers ferry services to wide range of vessels. The company places particular emphasis to quality and safety. In addition to high-speed catamarans and solar-powered ferries, traditional passenger ships and water cabs are also used. Depending on to route, ferries operate seasonally or year-round and allow for duty-free shopping. On longer routes, the modern ships offer a wide entertainment program, including a pool. Restaurants, cafeterias, bars and lounges also spoil passengers with culinary delights. A wide variety of cabin categories ensure that every traveler finds the right accommodation for his or her individual passage.

Major FRS ferry routes

With its routes, FRS connects Sylt with Denmark via the North Sea and also calls at Helgoland from Hamburg. On the Baltic Sea, the company offers a wide range of regional and international ferry services, from cab boat services around Hiddensee to connections to Rügen and passage to Trelleborg in Sweden (since April 2023). In Wolfsburg, solar-powered ferries take passengers to the Autostadt, and in Berlin, the “White Fleet” is in operation for the Berlin transport authority. Across the Mediterranean Sea FRS ships connect the Spanish mainland with North Africa to several routes. On the Tarifa – Tangier route, the modern high-speed ferry takes just 35 minutes to connect two continents. With the route Huelva – Arrecive there is also a connection to to Canary Islands.
