When you take the Fähre into the port of Klaipeda, the oldest city in Lithuania welcomes you. The imposing old town is characterised by half-timbered houses, churches, the theatre square and the town’s landmark, the famous Simon-Dach fountain. Visitors interested in art will certainly be fascinated by the “art in public space”, because everywhere in the city there are small sculptures to discover. In addition, the city has a sculpture park, which displays works by Lithuanian sculptors. A marine museum offers another special feature besides a dolphinarium: it is housed in a fortress.
